The Indian Contingent for the Commonwealth Games 2022 is all set and rooting to go. A total of 332 athletes will be taking the flight to England. The games begin on the 38th of July. India ended third in the games held in 2018 at Gold Coast in Australia. England and Australia were the teams that were ahead of India. So, who are the top contenders for us this time around? Indian Women’s Cricket Team for the Commonwealth Games 2022:
This is the first time that Women’s cricket will feature in the commonwealth games. The cricket games will be played in the T20 format, which happens to be the shortest form of the game. The 15-member squad chosen is as follows:

The team will have a good chance in this tournament to win a medal because the team is filled with strikers and quick scorers. Pooja Vastrakar, Shefali Verma, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Harleen Deol! All of them like hitting the ball big!
Indian Athletics Team for the Commonwealth Games 2022:

Saikhom Mirabai Chanu:
Mirabai Chanu was the talk of the town when she became India’s first medalist in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Coming from small towns, Mira has come a very long way. She has inspired many athletes already. But her task is half done yet. Chanu is India’s biggest hope for winning a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
Indian Hockey Teams:
The Men’s and the Women’s teams are also top prospects for Gold Medals. Their performance at the global level improves by four-folds. We saw both teams shine with flying colors in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Similarly, we can have elite performances in the Commonwealth Games 2022.
