The 75-day long ‘COVID Vaccination Amrit Mahotsava’ is approaching towards its end date. The government is providing free Covid-19 booster dose to all eligible people above 18+ under the ‘COVID Vaccination Amrit Mahotsava’ at government Covid vaccination centres.

The ‘COVID Vaccination Amrit Mahotsava’ was launched on July 15 as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to widen the coverage.

The special drive, aimed to increase uptake for the Precaution Dose of COVID Vaccine among the eligible adult population, will end on September 30.

“75 days in honour of 75 years of Independence   #PrecautionDose is available for free to all eligible adults, at Government Vaccination Centres till 30th September 2022. Visit your nearest vaccination centre at the earliest & get the dose,” the COVIDNewsByMIB said in a Tweet.

Under the ‘COVID Vaccination Amrit Mahotsava’, states and UTs were asked by the Centre to provide free jabs for 75 days. States and UTs were also advised to ensure that all vaccine doses are utilised on the basis of FEFO (first expiry, first out) principle to avoid expiry of the vaccines.

Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya appealed to states to organise vaccination camps at public places such as railway stations, airports and religious sites to boost the coverage of precaution dose.

As many as 17 per cent of eligible people have received the precaution dose of COVID-19 vaccines till August 15, according to a PTI report.
