Indian cricket team Asia Cup squad 2022: Asia Cup tournament 2022 is set to kick start on August 27. A total of 6 teams will participate in the tournament which will be held in the UAE. The tournament will open on August 27 with Sri Lanka taking on Afghanistan. The high voltage India vs Pakistan match will be played on August 28. The final match of Asia Cup will be played on September 11.

Right-arm seamers, Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel will be missing from India’s Asian cup squad this year owing to their injuries and are currently undergoing rehab at the NCA in Bengaluru. Three players, named Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel and Deepak Chahar have been selected as standbys in the team.
This tournament to be played in T20 format, will mark the 15th edition of the Asian Cup and will be held in UAE (main event) between six teams considering the prevailing situation in Sri Lanka. Thus, Asia Cup 2022 will be hosted by Sri Lanka in UAE.
As per the BCCI press release, the six teams are divided into two groups with India, Pakistan and a qualifying team in Group A and Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan forming Group B. Each team plays the other once in the group stage with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Super 4 round. The top 2 teams from Super 4 will qualify for the final.
India, having won the trophy seven times, is the most successful team in the championship.
