crackdown
against
Kollywood
top
financiers,
the
Income
Tax
(IT)
Department
conducted
raids
in
the
wee
hours
of
Tuesday
(August
2)
across
Tamil
Nadu-
Chennai,
Madurai
(Mela
Masi
Office,
Keeraithurai,
Theppakulam,
etc.)
Theni,
Kanchipuram,
Thiruvallur,
etc.
IT
Department
reportedly
raided
over
40
locations
in
Madurai
and
10
locations
in
Chennai-
including
a
house
in
Nungambakkam’s
Kamdar
Nagar
in
Chennai
and
an
office
in
T.
Nagar’s
Raghavaya
Street.
As
per
a
News
Minute
report,
Kollywood
financier
GN
Anbu
Chezhiyan’s
properties,
including
his
residence
and
Gopapuram
Cinema
offices
in
Madurai
and
Chennai
were
raided.
This
is
the
third
time
that
Anbu
Chezhiyan’s
properties
are
being
raided
by
IT
Officials.
A
few
other
top
film
producers
are
also
under
the
scanner
and
raids
have
been
conducted
at
their
offices
too,
which
are
located
in
Chennai.
Anbu
is
a
well-known
film
financier
in
the
Tamil
Film
Industry,
who
also
produces
and
distributes
films
under
his
Gopapuram
Films
banner.
Earlier,
in
February
2020,
IT
officials
raided
his
house
in
Chennai
after
actor
Vijay’s
film
Bigil‘s
release.
Reportedly,
the
officials
seized
as
much
as
Rs
65
Crore
in
cash.
Actor
Vijay
and
producer
Kalapathi
Agoram
had
come
under
IT
Department’s
scanner.
