Upcoming Housing and Land Use-Related Events:
- Thursday, Aug. 25, 6 to 8 p.m.: The organization IMPACCT Brooklyn is hosting a free Tenants’ Rights webinar to help renters understand the language in their leases, find out what resources are available to them and learn to fight a potential eviction. - Monday, Aug. 29, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.: The Met Council on Housing holds its weekly membership meeting to discuss housing-related issues, policy and upcoming campaigns. Contact Andrea@metcouncilonhousing.org for more information.
- Tuesday, Aug. 30, 4 to 5:30 p.m.: The groups Rethink Penn Station and the Empire State Coalition will hold a rally on the steps of the Farley Post Office on 8th Avenue Street between 31st and 33rd Streets to protest plans to rezone and transform the area around Penn Station. More information available here.
- Wednesday, Aug. 31, 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.: There will be a public hearing for comments on NYCHA’s FY2023 Draft Annual Plan at the Pace Schimmel Theater located at 3 Spruce St. in Manhattan. NYCHA residents and members of the public can submit written comments on the plan through September 2, 2022 by email to annualplancomments@nycha.nyc.gov. - The NYC Continuum of Care is currently accepting new project applications for funding consideration through the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s annual CoC Program Notice of Funding Opportunity. The NYC CoC is accepting applications for Permanent Supportive Housing and Rapid Re-housing projects. New project applications must be submitted by Aug. 23 at 5 p.m. [More Here]
NYC Affordable Housing Lotteries Ending Soon
The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) are closing lotteries on the following subsidized buildings over the next week:
- Manida Street Senior Apartments at 661 Manida Street in The Bronx, for households earning between $54,343 and $96,080
- TRIO at 27-19 Thomson Ave. in Queens, for households earning between $88,835 and $187,330
- 535 East 12th Street Apartments in Manhattan, for households earning between $88,492 and $198,165.
- 737 Fenimore Apartments in Brooklyn, for households earning between $67,715 and $156,130.
- 1104 Bedford Avenue Apartments in Brooklyn, for households earning between $50,160 and $156,130
- 1537, 1539, 1541 Dean Street Apartments in Brooklyn, for households earning between $63,429 and $187,330
- 31-05 21st Street Apartments in Queens, for households earning between $72,000 and $187,330
- 68 Gold Street Apartments in Brooklyn, for households earning between $87,635 and $187,330
