Players Likely To be Targeted by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2023 Auction:
8.75 Crores As Purse, 7 Slots Available, 2 Overseas Slots.
There are not many slots or voids to fill. The Royal Challengers Bangalore did a decent job before the auction starts hence, they are in this situation. But with the limited purse that they have, they will have to target players very wisely. An established opener or number 3 can be on their list. Again, they will need to go for players who might seep under the scanner. These are Harry Brook or Will Jacks. Tom Banton can be a good option too for them in the TATA IPL 2023 Auction. So, Tom and Faf can open with Virat at number 3.
Players Likely To be Targeted by the Punjab Kings in IPL 2023 Auction:
32.2 Crores As Purse, 9 Slots Available, 3 Overseas Slots.
The Punjab Kings always have a significant amount of money. There has never been an auction where the Punjab Kings have gone without a heavy purse. They too need a top-order batter. If Shikhar and Baristow open, Rajapaksha will have to bat at number 3. But does the management trust Bhanuka? They need to have backup players in that position. Tom Banton, Will Jacks, Ajinkya Rahane, and Manish Pandey are good options.
A good middle-order batter can add immense value. They can go back to Sarfaraz Khan who played for them previously. They can also target Rilee Rossouw, he will do both the jobs, top-order, and middle-order. With Jitesh Sharma and Shahrukh Khan available, they do not need a finisher.
Players Likely To be Targeted by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2023 Auction:
42.25 Crores Left as Purse, 13 Slots Available, 4 Overseas Slots.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad did some heavy spending last time. They dropped some high-price players and hence have a lot of work to be done in the TATA IPL 2023 Auction. As simple as it gets, they have 13 to 14 Crores aside for Ben Stokes. He will be their leader and a replacement for Pooran in the batting order. Or they can go for Mayank Agarwal with the same strategy. Mayank can bat in place of Kane Williamson.
The best option in the other case would be to buy Kane Williamson back at a lower market value. They need middle-order batter. Manish Pandey, Harry Brook, Will Jacks, Sarfaraz Khan, and Cameron Green are all good options. The wiser option would be to give Bhuvi the captaincy with Mayank as backup and buy Cameron Green instead of Ben Stokes.
Players Likely To be Targeted by the Delhi Capitals:
19.45 Crores As Purse, 5 Slots Available, 2 Overseas Slots.
They have only 5 slots to fill with a hell lot of money. So, they can be immensely selective. The word has spread that they have kept aside a big cheque for Cameron Green or Sam Curran. With that being said, not many players are required. They already have a sorted 11. An effective finisher can add value. They can go for any experienced batter.
Players Likely To be Targeted by the Gujarat Titans:
19.25 Crores As Purse, 7 Slots Available, 3 Overseas Slots.
The Gujarat Titans, the defending champions need back-ups. They cannot rely on Matthew Wade for too long. He is injury prone. If available, the experience that he adds is immense so he is irreplaceable. They can go back for Roy. He was a steal at 2 Crores. Their number 3 was Vijay Shankar. But that idea didn’t work exceptionally well. So, they can invest in Rilee Rossouw. They need Hardik’s backup. Well, there isn’t any all over the globe, but they have to go for all-rounders.
