I don’t know what the designers over at Ford did to the latest generation 2022 Mustang because it’s the worst-looking iteration since the SN-93. It has a weird BMW 3-series thing going on about it. The previous generation was much better much more harmonious. But it was a blatant copy of the Aston Martin DB9 which is why we here at DCBHQ referred to the S-550 as the Ford Mar-stang.
While Ford never got called out for their facsimile approach to automotive styling, concept artist Abimelec Design has had enough of Ford crossing the copyright infringement line in the sand. Here we are given an exclusive preview of the widebody Ford Mustang.
The Mustang widebody by Abimelec Design looks much better, the widebody kit certainly suits the 2022 spec design language. Although I probably wouldn’t have such extreme-low ride height. What you see is a fully realized CGI concept.
The current generation Mustang no longer uses a V6 engine for it has been ditched in favor of a 4-cylinder, 2.3-litre turbo-charged engine producing 310 hp (231 kW) and 350 lb⋅ft (475 N⋅m) of torque. The 460 hp V8 lives on, but how long before it is hybridized?
However, the Elephant in the room is the Mustang, we can no longer refer to it as the Mar-stang because the Aston Martin-ness has been vanquished.
