Brides these days are more focused on creating the ultimate “talked about” wedding that equates to the addition of more daring venues; themes and wedding dress colors! But there are those brides who don’t want to avoid white only to be different, but their decision could be based on the fact that white simply isn’t their best color.
The traditional white wedding dress came into being after Queen Victoria’s 1840 ceremony; prior to that most women simply wore their best dress which varied in color and style. It has since been branded as a sign of purity to wear a white dress and quite frankly not many brides should by merit be wearing white! So if you decide to opt for a different colored gown how do you choose a color that will still be classical and romantic.
Today brides seem to be more prone to wear what they like than go for the traditional and some exquisite wedding dresses have been worn including black and red gowns that were equally romantic in design. This is where the true beauty lies; but when it comes to the right color choice anything in a pastel color seems to be perfect. Similarly, most brides prefer to wear varying shades of cream or beige in order to steer clear of the more brilliant white creations.
With fashion trends not adhering to any tradition; unless your wedding dress needs to be white for religious purposes, your palette choice is endless. To be perfectly honest modern day brides have to really know what they want in order to make any decision regarding the color of their dress; otherwise the array could be absolutely overwhelming! But if all else fails perhaps a pale lavender or blue is ideal as it is considered to be a color or wealth and good luck in many cultures or at least according to the old rhyme “Something borrowed, something blue”!
